Combine Harvester
The combination of mower and thresher in one device is one of the most revolutionary developments in agriculture. Hiram Moore and his financier John Hascall are considered to be the inventors of the first combine harvester, at that time still a mower pulled by horses. In 1836 the two applied for their patent. The first combine harvester of its time was equipped with a roller on the front, which was provided with highlighted pins which pulled the grain towards the mower. After cutting, the thresher processed the grain in a threshing cylinder. A vibrating sieve then filtered out the grains so that after they were released from the chaff they fell into a sack.
Combine Harvester Development
This name is still used in connection with the first combine harvester. It is the revolutionary Cyrus McCormick. He worked for years in his home workshop in the US state of Virgina on a functioning vehicle and laid the foundation stone for the combine harvester's many years of development. The first successes resulted in a combine with steam engine drive, a 12-meter cutting unit and headlights for night work. At that time, the vehicles could cover an area of 40 hectares a day. The technology developed steadily, the threshing unit was expanded over time. After the tangential threshing method was first used, a method in which the threshing drum was installed transversely to the direction of travel, the agricultural machinery manufacturers New Holland and IH launched the axial method in 1975. Here the grain is fed in parallel to the direction of travel. A harvesting process that was highly controversial among farmers due to the higher straw load. This strain was reason enough that the tangential threshing process was never really replaced.

These agricultural implements are the newest in a long line of harvesters. Forage harvesters are used to pick up, shred and load crops such as grass, corn or straw. Due to the increasing spread of maize cultivation, maize choppers are probably the most widely known. In the past few years, choppers have been used more and more, particularly in the preparation of silage, and the smaller harvesting machines are also being used more and more for harvesting renewable raw materials. Due to their different designs, they can be used in a variety of ways, and are split into flail choppers, disc wheel choppers and drum field chopper categories.

When it is time to harvest, farmers and contractors often have to harvest their crops within a few days due to unpredictable weather. On many farms and agricultural zones, a successful harvest is crucial as to how the farm will continue next year. Therefore, working harvesters must be available on the farm. On tractorpool you will find numerous offers for used combine harvesters, including claas combine harvesters, New Holland combine harvesters, combine harvesters from John Deere or combine harvesters from Fendt, as well as used choppers. Buy or rent your top-quality used combine harvester at fair prices - now at tractorpool.co.uk.
